Dara Marks Ellen Sandler’s “TURNING YOUR SCREEPLAY INTO A TV PILOT"

“I am ONLY interested in reading original material... feature scripts are okay but since time is a factor in any agent's life, it is better to have a spec pilot.” - Bruce Brown, agent/manager & former Literary head at William Morris Agency

Emmy nominated writer/producer, Ellen Sandler, shares her practical tools for transforming your ideas into an original pilot, providing you with a template for a TV series proposal.

Whether you’re in the early stages of development, thinking of turning a screenplay into a series pilot, or have already written your pilot script, this workshop will help you nail it.

Discover:

  • The single most common mistake writers make when writing a spec pilot.
  • The biggest differences between screenplays and TV Pilots.
  • Your Premise –how to find it, focus it, and pitch it.
  • Your Central Character –give strength and dimension to the heart of your pilot.
  • Your Supporting Characters – the foundation of every successful TV show.
  • The World of your Show – Locations, Rituals, Tone, and Style – everything that makes it a show.
  • Story Lines –how to use them to discover how your show works.
  • Your Pilot Episode Story – you may be surprised at what it turns out to be!
  • How to use your finished pilot to advance your career.

Ellen Sandler was a Co-Executive Producer of the CBS hit series, Everybody Loves Raymond, and has created original pilots for ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox Family, Oxygen Network, and the Disney Channel.
