Room One: Pitch Lab
The Pitch Lab is for newcomers to pitching (or for the rusty in need of a refresher). This series will prepare you for the Sunday pitch meetings, as well as future pitching opportunities.
9:30 AM – 11 AM Pitch Prep (workshop)
This workshop covers how to create winning loglines, one sheets, treatments, and any leave-behinds that might accompany your pitch, including what elements go into a TV series pitch pack & bible. Million Dollar screenwriter Chris Soth will be leading this workshop.
11:15 AM – 12:45 PM Pitch Pointers (seminar)
Bringing his “No Bullscript” consulting techniques, Danny Manus will teach all the steps of the pitching process. Practical tips on delivery and presentation, pitching do's and don’ts, how to grab immediate attention, and how to wrap it up. Learn the differences between pitching “high concept” genre films and indie drama.
2:00 PM – 3:30 PM Pitch Practice (workshop)
Hands on coaching and feedback with pitch coaches. Learn how to pace, perform, excite and
build interest. Listen to your peers’ pitches and help each other improve. Experts say practice makes all the difference! Laurie Scheer, Ellen Sandler, Brenda Greenburg, and Chris Soth will help you practice your pitches.
3:45 PM – 5:15 PM Producers Roundtable (roundtables)
Learn from the decision makers themselves what’s happening in film and television. From the indie world to big budget genre. What works, what doesn’t, what’s taboo, and what they are currently looking for. Guests includeAndrew Wilson, Ray Miller, Karen King and Rebecca DiPasquale. Moderated by Philippa Burgess.

9:30 AM – 11:00 AM Tactical Networking (panel)
Does the word "networking" strike terror in your heart? No matter how you feel about doing it, it's a necessary component of working in the film and television industry, and you can learn how to do it more successfully. Panelists will share their ideas on how to create and implement a strategic networking plan, and possibly how to have fun doing it. Social media and networking gurus in attendance. Guests include: Jana Lynn White, Katherine Brodsky, and Guacira Naves of The Online Strategy House.
11:15 AM – 12:45 PM Unlimited Reach: Making Diversity Work for You (seminar)
Inclusion is the best way to ensure that your programming has a chance of being relevant and engaging to North America's fastest growing audiences. Karen King leads this newly developed seminar on creating TV for a diverse audience by hiring and managing diverse casts, crews and creative teams. King will teach you how to change in meaningful ways to create a loyal viewing audience.
2:00 PM – 3:30 PM Writer for Hire (panel)
What options do writers have other than simply pumping out spec scripts? How do they get onto the writing team of a TV series or hired as a story editor? What other venues are there in which writers can work? This panel will discuss what strategies you can develop and how you can build your brand and market yourself as a writer for hire. Guests include: Larry Raskin, Dennis Heaton, Michael Thoma, Daegan Fryklind.
3:45 PM – 5:15 PM Interview with an Agent
Get behind the scenes with two agents from top agencies in Los Angeles. David Boxerbaum and Rebecca Ewing tell all during a candid session with master interviewer Jana Lynn White.

11:15 AM – 12:45 PM Stacking the Deck: Teambuilding and Packaging your Project (seminar)
It takes a village to build a movie or a TV series. This workshop covers how to build your brand, target your hit list, network, negotiate & close the deal. Learn what to give up and what to fight for. Led by Philippa Burgess of Creative Convergence.
2:00 PM – 3:30 PM The Show Biz: Marketing and Distribution (panel)
Marketing and distribution go hand in hand. Successful marketing will lead to more distribution opportunities. But one of the biggest mistakes beginning filmmakers make is not starting their marketing and distribution plans early enough. Learn from industry professionals what you really need to know to stay savvy and in the game. Panelists include Jeff Kurz, Colleen Nystedt, and Michael Price.
3:45 PM – 5:15 PM Inside the TV Writer’s Room (panel)
What are the do's and don’ts with regard to team writing? How do you keep your focus and ideas in line with the series bible, the showrunner's vision, and members of the team? What are the steps to becoming an actual "Showrunner?"Panelists include Ellen Sandler, Brenda Greenberg, James Thorpe, Daegan Fryklind.

9:30 AM – 12:45 PM Developing Content for Multiple Platforms (seminar)
Short-form programming is being produced for all platforms, whether it be original programming or edits and mash-ups of existing content. This new arena opens up a number of programming options for everyone. In this seminar you will examine the elements that are essential for online projects, discuss how to think in terms of short attention spans, target markets that span all demographics, and find the right topics to explore to creative a perfect online video. Facilitated by new media guru Laurie Scheer.
2:00 PM – 3:30 PM Web Series Success Stories (panel)
A panel of web series producers who have created successful shows. What are the tricks? How did they fund the projects? And how did they build their audiences... and the buzz! Panelists include Kaleena Kiff and Ryan Copple of Riese, Jeff Macpherson of Tiki Bar TV, and Damon Vignale of The Vetala.
3:45 PM – 5:15 PM Pitching for Multiple Platforms (panel)
In this vital discussion, learn how to pitch for new platforms and what to be aware of when selling within the social networks and new media environments. In addition, you will discover how to pitch to traditional studios and networks while keeping web-based versions of your material in mind. Guests include Catherine Warren of FanTrust, Laurie Scheer, and Sean Embury.
5:15 PM – 7:00 PM Meet and Greet Mixer (cash bar)
The first social and networking event of the weekend. All Saturday Forum ticketholders and PitchMarket passholders are invited to the mixer. Meet the other delegates, special guests, and get a sneak peak into the PitchMarket Café. Guest speaker TBA.
