| Synopsis 1: |
The Sully Show is a half-hour scenario based comedy about an out of work actor living in Vancouver, BC. It has a cartoonish outlook on the talent side of Vancouver's film industry. While on the path, Sully encounters and befriends a variety of questionable actors and behind the scene types who are trying to make a buck out of insecurity and desperation.
Robert Nestling, who at one time was the premiere talent rep in the city, is Sully's agent. British and very arrogant, he somehow took an interest in Sully and started to represent him. Eventually Robert's personal and professional life falls apart and he begins to live and work out of a beaten up camper van equipped with a wood stove. He calls this his mobile talent agency. In a sort of Jerry MacGuire situation, Sully becomes his only remaining client and he starts to camp out behind his apartment building, while having to secretly bathe in the public showers by the beach. Sully thinks this is how it works. Its the "your agent is your friend approach" which will lead them into troubling situations; helping Sully's long shot love interest "Triple Threat" get a 'singing and dancing' job at a local strip club, bar fights, getting fired from the gas station, and embarrassing situations in acting class.
The personal and professional experiences that Sully goes through can only enhance who he is. He comes close to succeeding so many times, but is knocked down. Somehow he pulls it together and comes back to try again which is the pathos of his character and the characters of The Sully Show. They are all striving for success and happiness with the odds always stacked against them. The question remains, can any of these hapless companions achieve their goals? |
